RV.net CVC Annual Class B Rally Organizing Process
The annual RV.net Class B Rallies are organized and carried out by volunteers within the RV.net CVC forum participants. RV.net's level of sponsorship is (1) providing the Camping Van Conversions (CVC) forum for on line decision making regarding each year's rally location and organizers, (2) allowing use of the CVC forum for publicizing information about the next annual RV.net Class B Rally, and (3) usually donating small items to be used at the rally such as t-shirts.
The process described here only pertains to the annual RV.net Class B Rally. Mini-rallies can be organized by any B owner through the RV.net CVC forum just by picking a campground and saying "come on down." They are not sponsored by RV.net and those that have occurred have been everything from a gathering of a few Bs to some with 20 or 30 participants like the Nebraska and Utah mini-rallies in 2008.
There is no ongoing group that organizes each annual RV.net Class B Rally. They are organized by a bottoms-up approach after each year's rally has occurred. This process description is the guiding document for how each rally is organized.
This web site (www.b-rally.org) exists to centralize information about the annual RV.net Class B Rally (and for mini-rallies) that has been generated in RV.net CVC forum threads. This simplifies finding this information without reading through many pages of forum threads to find the information as it gets pushed down in threads.
The process for organizing each year's annual RV.net Class B Rally is:
The site and date of the next B-rally is decided by a vote on the CVC forum after sites have been nominated during the nomination period (2-month period following previous rally). The discussion period on the CVC forum and vote will occur in the 3rd month following the previous rally.
The date of the annual B-rally has traditionally been the last weekend in May that does not include Mother's Day or Memorial Day. This is not a requirement, but the proposed date should be part of a nominated site's proposal.
Any site in the geographic US can be nominated for the next B-rally by any member of RV.net that owns a Class B.
Information about nominated sites and proposed dates will be posted on a thread on the CVC forum and also on b-rally.org during the nomination period during the two months following the past rally.
The discussion/voting period will occur during the month after the nomination period closes. During this period questions about potential sites will be answered by the nominating member and a vote for the site for the next B-rally will occur at the end of the discussion/voting period.
After the next B-rally site has been chosen by a vote on the RV.net CVC forum, the member that nominated the chosen site becomes the primary organizer of the next year's CVC B-rally and shall be the decision maker for all organizing details. This person is free to solicit volunteers to assist on the next B-rally organizing team and for past rallies this has usually resulted in an "official" organizing team of 4-6 members.
The only constraints on the organization of the next B-rally is that they not violate any RV.net rules. The primary RV.net rule is that the choice of location for each annual RV.net Class B Rally must be done on the RV.net CVC forum via a balloting process among Class B owners that are members of RV.net.
Some considerations when nominating a site for the next B-rally:
Can it handle 40-50 Class Bs at least and with reasonably flat sites that are contiguous with each other?
Does it have a pavilion, game room, etc. that can handle 80-100 people for sit down dining?
Can the necessary number of sites be reserved at this location up to a year ahead for the B-rally?
Does the location have cell phone service and Wi-Fi availability? This is not a requirement but many participants want this access.
Documentation of this process is intended to make it clearly known to all those interested in the continuation of the annual RV.net Class B Rally.
